Community Action’s Employment & Training Division is recruiting for the upcoming 2024 Summer Youth Employment Program! The federally funded summer program is designed to allow participants the opportunity to explore interests and career pathways, develop workplace skills and engage in learning experiences. This program is available to youth ages 14 to 20 who meet federal income guidelines. Youth participants are matched with employers throughout Wyoming County based on the youth’s interest, location, age, and skill ability. Work experiences are generally scheduled for 5 weeks or 125 hours during the months of July and August but occasionally work hours are extended into September. Youth are paid minimum wage.
Employers participating in the Summer Youth Program agree to provide daily work assignments and supervision. Community Action pays for 100% of the youth wages and fringe and provides career and counseling support.
Community Action traditionally enrolls 30-35 youth each summer with an average of 10-15 employers participating both from the public and private sector across Wyoming County.
If you are interested in knowing more about the summer program, would like an application, or are interested in knowing how you can participate as an employer, please contact Matthew Dussault. 585-237-2600 (office) or 585-245-3964 (cell).
